Lecture on “The Magnificent Kingdom of Bhutan” at the Ecali Club in Athens, Greece

Perched in the Himalayas on the ancient Silk Road between Tibet and India, the small kingdom of Bhutan has always been wrapped in mystery. It used its commanding geomorphology as a barrier against the world. It only opened to foreign visitors as recently as 1974.

It was my pleasure to talk about this wonderful country I recently explored. The lecture was insightful. As long as it lasted, the Friends of the Ecali Club and I were immersed in gorgeous landscapes, temple-studded valleys, mist-shrouded pine forests, dzong fortresses and undulating mountain ranges.

It was a dreamy journey for our eyes, a unique journey to get to know hidden gems, real jewels of Bhutanese history and Buddhist art to enrich our cultural knowledge.

A heartfelt thank you to the management of the Ecali Club, which is the first country club in Greece.
