It was a bitterly cold winter’s day in Athens; yet the hall, at which I delivered my lecture entitled The Enchanting Diamonds of India, was exceptionally well attended by the Friends of the Ecali Club.
It was a historical journey rich in beauty, featuring jewels adorned with precious stones of immeasurable value and peerless craftsmanship — treasures that form part of the artistic heritage of this fascinating country, which in earlier times dazzled the West when worn by the rulers of the subcontinent’s kingdoms: the maharajas.
I extend my warmest thanks to the Ecali Club, one of Greece’s most exclusive country clubs, for the impeccable organisation of the event.
